assembly in Tokyo on May 27, 2010 and elected the former JCIA Vice
Chairman Kenji Fujiyoshi (Chairman of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.) as
chairman of JCIA replacing Chairman Hiromasa Yonekura, Chairman of
Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.

JCIA/JRCC “Grand Prix Safety,” “Special Safety” and “Safety” Awards for
chemical facilities with superior performance in promoting voluntary
conservation, safety and health. Showa Denko K.K., Oita Complex is
selected as JCIA/JRCC Grand Prix Safety Award.

A symposium on the activities of the industrial community toward realizing low-carbon societies was held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:50 pm at the Keidanren Hall. The event was co-sponsored by Nippon Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) and the Keizai Koho Center (Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs). Mr. Motozo Yoshikiyo, General Manager, Technical Affairs Department, represented the Japan Chemical Industry Association as a symposium panelist.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Chemical Dialogue was held from March 1 to 4 in Hiroshima City.On March 1 and 2, the "Case Study Workshop on the Chemicals Sector - From Principles to Practice" was held, and about 100 delegates from the governments and industries of APEC economies and from international organizations including the Organization for Economic Development(OECD) and the World Health Organization (WHO) participated in this to share information and exchange their views.
