WHAT'S NEW
JCIA publishes CHEMICAL INDUSTRY of JAPAN 2007
JCIA recently published a brochure “Chemical Industry of Japan 2007” in
which the scale of the chemical industry, its social roles, and others
facts are explained in an easy-to-understand way through graphs.
JCIA has recently established a goal of improving the energy use per
unit in the manufacturing sector by “20%” as a result of having examined
the cumulative fiscal 2006 results of about 200 companies that
participate in the voluntary action plan on the environment. In order
to achieve this goal, we will make extensive efforts in the years to
come.
JCIA held the fifth “Japan-China Government and Private Sector Dialogue
on the Chemical Industry” in Beijing on September 26, 2007 together with
Japan’s METI, the Chinese Government’s Ministry of Commerce, and CPCIA.

New Director General Appointed
Mr.Tetsuo Nishide was appointed for new Director General of JCIA.
31st JCIA/JRCC Safety Award Winners Selected
The Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) and the Japan Responsible
Care Council (JRCC) recently announced the winners of their 31st
JCIA/JRCC “Safety” and “Safety Effort” Awards for chemical facilities
with superior performance in promoting voluntary conservation, safety
and health.
39th Annual JCIA Technology Award Winners
JCIA announced the winners of its 39th Annual Technology Awards.
Japan Responsible Care Council Establishes Responsible Care Award
The Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) and the Japan Responsible
Care Council (JRCC) have recently established the “Responsible Care
Award”, a new award program to commend individuals or groups of the
member companies of JRCC who have contributed to the promotion and
expansion of Responsible Care activity.
