ICCA Holds Panel Discussion at COP 17
The 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held in Durban,
South Africa from November 28 through December 11, 2011. In addition to
the scheduled COP17 events, the conference also provided the
opportunity for representatives from the world’s relevant organizations,
associations, NGOs, and research groups, to convene for a supplementary
panel discussion held December 8 by the International Council of
Chemical Industry Associations (ICCA).
The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), the global voice
of the chemical industry, with members including the Japan Chemical
Industry Association (JCIA), the European Chemical Industry Council
(Cefic), and the American Chemistry Council (ACC), will hold a panel
discussion on “Chemistry and the Low Carbon Economy: An International
Perspective”, as a side event happening during the 17th Conference of
the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change.
2011 Children’s Chemical Experiment Show:An International Year of Chemistry Special
The “2011 Children’s Chemical Experiment Show: An International Year of
Chemistry Special” was held at the National Museum of Emerging Science
and Innovation in Tokyo on November 26-27 by Dream Chemistry 21, a group
of associations focused on promoting chemistry.
12th Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference Held in Bali
To develop, promote and strengthen the
Responsible Care ® initiative in the
Asia-Pacific region, the twelfth Asia Pacific Responsible Care
Conference (APRCC) was held on October 25-27, 2011 in Bali, Indonesia.
Hosted by the National Committee for
Responsible Care Indonesia (KN-RCI), the conference also served as an
event to champion the International Year of Chemistry (IYC).
IYC-Commemoration Symposium Organized by Chemical Daily
o commemorate the International Year of Chemistry, a symposium was held
in Tokyo on October 27-28, 2011. Organized by The Chemical Daily Co.,
Ltd., the symposium included an exhibition from the Japan Chemical
Industry Association (JCIA) on chemical products that contribute to the
society, presenting the history of Japan’s chemical industry, as well as
the various activities of JCIA, with a chronology display and
audio-video materials.
“Innovations in Greenhouse Gas Reductions”- Life Cycle Analysis of Chemical Products in Japan -
The Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) has announced the
publication of its new report, “Innovations in Greenhouse Gas
Reductions: Life Cycle Analysis of Chemical Products in Japan,” now
available in English, regarding measures the chemical industry has taken
to reduce the effects of global warming.
JCIA Presents 35th Grand Prix Safety Award-Omuta Works of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. Honored
After reviewing a number of chemical facilities candidates, the Japan
Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) has selected Omuta Works of Mitsui
Chemicals, Inc. as the winner of its 35th Grand Prix Safety Award.
JCIA’s “Grand Prix Safety”, “Special Safety” and “Safety” Award are
presented to facilities with superior performance, serving as leaders
within the chemical industry by promoting voluntary conservation, health
and safety efforts. This year, eleven facilities, including one
research center, were recommended for the Association’s awards.
