At the Japan Chemical Industry Association’s 17th Annual General Meeting
on May 30, Hiromasa Yonekura, President of Sumitomo Chemical Co.,Ltd.,
was elected Chairman of JCIA, effective immediately.

The Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) recently announced the
winners of its 40th Annual Technology Awards. Kaneka Corporation wins
JCIA Technology Award (Grand Prize) because of “Research and Development
of Optically Active Pyrrolidinol and Business Expansion through
Industrialization”.

The Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) and the Japan Responsible
Care Council (JRCC) recently announced the winners of their 32nd
JCIA/JRCC “Safety” and “Safety Effort” Awards for chemical facilities
with superior performance in promoting voluntary conservation, safety
and health. Tonen Chemical Corporation, Kawasaki Work is selected as
JCIA/JRCC Safety Award.
