JCIA and JRCC recently announced the winners of their 33rd JCIA/JRCC
“Safety” and “Safety Effort” Awards for chemical facilities with
superior performance in promoting voluntary conservation, safety and
health.

Global Chemical Industry Reports Product Stewardship Progress to ICCM-2; Looks Forward to Further Accomplishments in Years Ahead

The global chemical industry has made substantial progress in
implementing its product stewardship commitments under the Strategic
Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), but acknowledges
there is still much work to do and thus is accelerating its efforts,
says the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA). The
conclusion was part of a new progress report ICCA presented to the
Second Session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management
(ICCM-2) in Geneva this week.

JCIA publishes a new pamphlet LRI.

The Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA) provides longterm
support for research into the effects of chemical substances on human
health and the environment. These support activities are referred to as
the LRI (Long-range Research Initiative).

This pamphlet is made up major objectives, basic principles,research areas and the outline of Japanese LRI.

Global Chemical Industry to Highlight Product Stewardship Progress

The International Council of Chemical
Associations (ICCA) will soon issue a report on important product
tewardship progress made by the industry in the past few years. At the
International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM-2), to be held in
Geneva this May 11-15, industry representatives will detail progress in
improving the safe management of chemicals. Furthermore, ICCA will
explain how the global chemical industry will continue to demonstrate
its economic, social and environmental commitments around the globe.
