  • Revenue increased year-over-year for the first time in four quarters. Profit down year-on-year for the first time in three quarters.
  • In the January–March quarter, sales increased by 1.3% year-on-year, driven by steady performance in high-performance sectors such as semiconductors and electronic materials. However, amid sluggish conditions in the petrochemical market, operating profit decreased by 1.0% year-on-year due to lower operating rates at ethylene facilities—a result of the situation in the Middle East—which reduced efficiency, as well as the burden of higher raw material and fuel prices and adverse exchange rate movements.
